Match Report by St@tto

Despite the setback of a fourth minute sending off, Harriers came from behind to beat Eastern Division side Mount Nod Highway on their first visit to Aggborough.

Harriers suffered a major setback after just three minutes when goalkeeper Steve Parker got into trouble with a back pass, was put under pressure by Teggin and pulled him down in the penalty area.  The referee had no hesitation in showing him the red card; with no sub goalkeeper available, defender Liam Teraud had to take over in goal for the second match in a row.  From the resultant penalty Sean Lally sent Teraud the wrong way to give the visitors the lead.  Harriers came back quickly, however, and Scott Eaton fired them level after a quarter of an hour picking up on a pass from Jermaine Hollis.  The rest of the first half was fairly even with little incident until the last few minutes when Stephen Thompson set up another chance for Eaton but he curled his shot just over the angle of post and bar.

Early in the second half Mount Nod could have regained the lead when Lally came forward for a corner and headed the cross against the post.  Harriers counterattacked and Daniel Ludlow broke free on the left before cutting inside and shooting under Daniel O'Rourke in the visitors' goal to put Harriers ahead for the first time.  The action continued apace and just two minutes later the scores were level again; a free kick on the right found Tom Maguire on the edge of the penalty area who headed over Teraud who had come too far out of his goal and got nowhere near the ball.

On the hour mark Harriers should have gone ahead again, Lee Williams broke into the penalty area on the right and pulled the ball back to Eaton six yards out who somehow contrived to fire over the bar.  The third goal was not long in coming, however, Ludlow made a good run on the left and picked out Tom Byrne on the edge of the penalty area who fired a powerful shot past O'Rourke.  Harriers' superior fitness began to tell as the game wore on and in the final ten minutes they put the result beyond doubt.  Ludlow saw a shot cleared off the line by John Garry before leading scorer Thompson scored the fourth goal from close range following good play by Mitch Butler.  Two minutes from the end Butler completed the scoring himself with a well taken shot that curled beyond the reach of O'Rourke although he injured himself in the process and limped out of the game so that Harriers finished with just nine men on the field.
